Electronic bill presentment and payment – an easy way to pay your bills


The modern telecommunications operators and other billers should provide their customers with as easy methods of bill payment as possible. A way worth recommending of improving payments is the EBPP (electronic bill presentment and payment), a service which has been growing in popularity worldwide. BillNet S.A. was the first company to launch EBPP services on the Polish market.

The implementation of the system at BillNet started in October 2000 and took only three months. This way, the first fully electronic flow of bills and payments started to operate in mid-December 2002. Then, the solution was tested for three months by a chosen group of customers of STOEN, BRE and Bank Przemysłowy. Their positive opinions stood as a testament to the product’s outstanding features. BillNet staff was given a complete set of tools allowing customer care, system administration and supervision over the given processes, such new user registration, viewing bills and data exchange between billers and banks. The system was fitted with tools enabling to build interfaces with banking systems, as well as with some pre-defined patterns allowing to exchange information with the majority of banking systems that operate in Poland.
